Free software to view AutoCAD Autodesk DVG files TrueView is free multimedia software that allows users to view AutoCAD and other DVG files. Since DVG TrueView is only a viewer, you cannot use it to edit drawings. However, you can measure and print your drawings and convert DVG files between AutoCAD formats. Is DVG TrueView especially useful for architects, engineers and builders? Autodesk DVG TrueView is a free standalone DVG viewer. It is based on the same platform as AutoCAD, a standard CAD (Computer-Assisted Design) software application. DVG TrueView allows you to see the latest DVG, DVF and DKSF file formats, just as you would in AutoCAD, but without paying for a license (function () {(‘review-app-page-desktop’);}) DVG Trueviev is an application only for Windows and is not available for Mac operating systems. There are several versions of DVG TrueView products from 2007. DVG TrueView 2019, 2018 and 2017 are available in 64 and 32 bits. Autodesk DVG Trueviev 2020 is only available in 64-bit versions. System requirements for the latest version include Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1803 or later), Windows with update KB2919355, and Windows 7 SP1. Downloading Autodesk DVG Trueviev for Windows could not be easier. Simply download and run the .eke file and follow the on-screen instructions to extract the installation files, which takes a few minutes. After extracting the files, perform the actual installation (after you accept the Autodesk license and services agreement). The installation took about five minutes. Instructions for installing this version are in English only, although other language versions are available. When the installation is complete, you can finish; the program does not open automatically. What is TrueView DVG used for? DVG is a file extension used to draw programs, such as computer-aided design (CAD) software. DVG TrueView is primarily intended for professionalswhich take data from AutoCAD DVG or DKSF drawings, but do not have to edit or prepare it. Architects, engineers and construction professionals are likely to find the program useful. TrueView can be configured to automatically open DVG and other supported files. Alternatively, the files are very easy to open from the user interface. Once you open the file, a toolbar appears at the top of the interface that divides the tools into different functions. The tools are grouped into several tabs, including basic navigation for zooming, zooming, and rotating drawings. When you hover over the icons, drop-down tips appear that offer a fairly comprehensive guide. This is useful for new users. Users also have the ability to customize the user interface using the tools on the User Interface tab. This includes looking at the tiles horizontally or vertically, as well as waterfalls. You can also choose how you want the tabs to appear from the drop-down menu next to Home. Autodesk DVG Trueviev’s alternatives include AutoCAD DVGDraving Viewer, DVG Fastview and Draftsight, which are very easy to use. DVG DKSF Converter allows users to convert DVG files to DKSF. A set of non-editing tools Broadly speaking, all non-editing functions included in AutoCAD are available in DVG TrueView. This includes DVG Convert, which allows users to create older versions of DVG (such as AutoCAD 2000, 2004, etc.) from the current file. Limited Edition Functionality By its very nature, Autodesk DVG TrueView has limited functionality. Anyone looking for more editing tools should consider using AutoCAD. It has industry standard features and libraries that meet the needs of a variety of professionals. With AutoCAD, you can create floor plans, sections, walls, windows, doors, and other designs. It’s not as easy to use as Autodesk DVG Trueviev, but it has extensive help menus with information about its tools and features. However, getting the most out of software features comes at a high cost, as licenses cost thousands of dollars a year. Additional useful enhancements You can improve the functionality of DVG TrueView by adding Design Review, another Autodesk product. This add-on expands the set of features of DVG Viewer, allowing you to view, mark, print and track changes in 2D and 3D files for free. It is especially useful in a shared environment, as it allows you to add comments, information and other files. Instead of DVG TrueView, Autodesk Viewer allows you to easily view and share designs in a browser instead of downloading software. Use it to preview the design, take screenshots for presentations, and measure components. Files displayed in Autodesk Viewer can be shared using URLs. So it is useful when working with someone who does not have Autodesk programs installed on their free DVGdisplay. Purchasing individual licenses for full CAD software can be too expensive. Autodesk DVG Trueviev provides a useful solution for those who only need to view, convert and export DVG files and do not need design features. Although the program is easy to use for non-professionals, DVG TrueView will inevitably attract more architects, creatives, engineers and designers.
