What’s new in Windows 11:

– Windows 11 will have a completely new design. Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to go back on its previous announcements and abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. And the brand new design is ideal for that. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign for an update codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – apparently that was the name under which Windows 11 shared previously unknown information, and designers people around them have developed realistic concepts based on all this data.

– Launcher and system items will float above the bottom bar. Start is the calling card and the face of all the latest versions of Windows. Not surprisingly, in Windows 11 the developers transformed it again, but not so much in functional terms as in visual terms – the Start window will hover over the bottom bar. Certainly, this small change makes the system much cooler. Judging by the information on the network, Microsoft is not going to drastically change “from the inside” of this menu – the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself. The control panel will also be floating, and its design will be exactly the same as that of the “Start”. The Action Center will snap command buttons together – a similar button has long been used in some other operating systems. Almost every mention of this new menu indicates that it will be an island – control buttons will be located in a separate panel, notifications – in another, and specific elements (for example, the player) – in a separate panel.

– The right angles will disappear, they will be replaced by fillets. In fact, experts and concept designers disagree on this issue – some are sure that Microsoft will not change its traditions and stick to right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 , Microsoft will follow the rounding fashion. The latter better fits the definition of “all new Windows” – floating menus alone aren’t enough for the new design to be considered truly new. Rounding should affect almost everything in the system, from context menus and system bars to all application windows. True, even on this issue the opinions of concept designers differ – some complement all possible interface elements, others combine them with right angles.

– Everywhere there will be a translucent background with blur. There is a lot of controversy on the net about the style of island windows, corner decorations and menu levitation, butalmost everyone is unanimous on the transparency of windows. The vast majority of design leaks and renders show transparency and blurring in all windows, be it at least the Start menu or File Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even found in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed for dual-screen devices and weak gadgets alongside the Sun Valley project. The so-called acrylic transparency implies the use of new effects when hovering over elements with the mouse, as well as increasing the spacing between elements – the areas of the interface with which the user interacts will certainly become more larger and page titles will become thicker.

– New font, which is alreadyhas been displayed. Windows 11 will likely use the default Segoe UI Variable responsive font, which is already in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders. Its advantage is that it is suitable for both small texts and large inscriptions. This distinguishes it from standard fonts, originally created for small or large sizes. For example, the stable version of Windows 10 currently uses the Segoe UI font designed for 9pt. In small inscriptions it becomes barely legible, and in large ones it looks expressionless.

– Windows 11 will have new icons and Windows 95 icons will disappear. Yes, they are still used today. Microsoft will finally transform the icons that are used throughout the system. It’s not just shortcuts to folders, trash cans, and other icons found in File Explorer. We are talking about all the icons available in the Shell32 directory. There are still icons from the Windows 95 era, and Microsoft only recently updated their design in one of the internal sets – of course, they will migrate to Windows 11.

“Windows 11 will have functional innovations – there are a lot of them, but they are all small. Much less is known about the features of the next update than about its design. But since Windows 11 and Windows 10X (a system of canceled exploit for weak and foldable devices, the image of which was leaked online) were developed in parallel, it is safe to assume that all features of the latter will appear in Windows 11. , Windows 11 will appear when the camera is used on the computer – the corresponding indicator will be displayed in the system tray.
